Technocarb makes a wide variety of kits to convert a wide variety of fleet vehicles to propane and CNG. While their propane and CNG conversion kits could be used on a much wider variety of vehicles, the certification requirements of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the California Air Resources Board (CARB) makes it prohibitively expensive to offer certified kits for more than a select number of vehicles.

Technocarb has EPA certification for numerous systems, including:

  • GM 7500/6500 Series Trucks with 8.1 Litre engines (Sequential Vapour Injection)
  • GM 8.1L Medium & Heavy Duty vehicles with 8.1 Litre Engines (>14,000 GVWR)
  • Ford full-size vehicles (Crown Victoria, Police Special, Town Car, Marquis) with 4.6 Litre Engine
  • GM Trucks & Vans with 4.8, 5.3 & 6.0 Litre Engines
  • Chrysler Trucks with 5.7 Litre Hemi Engines

Technocarb's kits are tailored primarily for dual-fuel operation on modern electronically fuel injected vehicles. The kits designed to be a plug-in installation for the most part with a minimal amount of rewiring and custom fabrication. In addition, Technocarb also supplies mono fuel systems.

Technocarb's EPA/CARB-certified kits can be installed on vehicles others than those on which they were specified and those conversions will also provide excellent vapour fuel economy and low emissions.

Dual Fuel Operation

All of Technocarb's conversions are designed to start on gasoline and then automatically switch to vapour operation when the alternative fuel is selected. This is done to ensure that the gasoline fuel system is always functioning properly. In the case that the system runs out of LPG or CNG, the Techocarb control system automatically switches back to gasoline operation. When this happens, the alternative fuel tank gauge will flash its LED indicator lights and emit a "buzzing" sound to notify the operator that it is now back on gasoline operation. Other than having to keep an eye on the new fuel gauge, the operation of a converted vehicle is completely seamless to the vehicle's operator.

Off-Road Applications

Technocarb made several 4bbl carburetor kits specifically for older carbureted V8-engine applications. It utilized an exhaust oxygen sensor for full closed-loop operation to provide excellent fuel economy and low emissions on LPG and CNG. At this time, the 4bbl carb kits are not being produced.
