Hydrofuel, Inc. and its affiliate, Canadian Alternative Energy Corporation (CAEC), have been in the automotive ammonia fuel business since the July of 1980.

Hydrofuel Inc. has been developing anhydrous ammonia (NH3) fuel systems for spark-ignition and compression-ignition engines. Hydrofuel Inc unveiled the world's first automotive NH3 aftermarket liquid-injection conversion system for spark ignition engines at the 2007 Ammonia Conference in San Francisco, CA on October 16.
